Why?

When you move, you must register your new address at the residents' registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt, often called Bürgeramt), normally within two weeks. The registry office (Standesamt) handles births, marriages and deaths, not changes of address.

Wenn man umzieht, muss man sich beim Einwohnermeldeamt (oft Bürgeramt genannt) anmelden, normalerweise innerhalb von zwei Wochen. Das Standesamt ist für Geburt, Heirat und Tod zuständig.
