A two-week plan to pass the Einbürgerungstest
Updated 20 October 2026
Short answer: Spend 20-30 minutes a day. Days 1-10: learn about 30 new questions a day by topic and repeat yesterday’s mistakes. Days 11-14: take one timed mock exam a day and review every wrong answer. You’re ready when you score 28+ in mock exams consistently.
Before you start
Choose your federal state on the home page so your readiness score includes your 10 state questions. Pick the language mode that fits you: EN to understand the content, DE+EN to connect it with the German wording, and DE once you want exam conditions.
Days 1-10: learn the questions
- Practise one or two topics a day - about 30 questions.
- Read the explanation after every answer, even when you were right. Understanding beats memorising.
- Start each day with “My mistakes” from the day before.
- On day 5, do your 10 state questions.
Days 11-14: exam practice
- Take one mock exam a day in DE mode, with the timer.
- Review every wrong answer, then practise “My mistakes” again.
- Goal: 28 or more out of 33, twice in a row.
Tips for the German wording
- Learn key words: Grundgesetz (constitution), Bundestag (parliament), Bundesrat (council of the states), Wahl (election), Gericht (court), Bundesland (federal state).
- Watch out for negative questions: “Was ist kein…” or “Welches Recht gehört nicht…”.
- Many wrong options are obviously absurd. If you understand two key words, you can usually rule out two answers.
