B They work voluntarily and unpaid in clubs and associations.
Why?
'Ehrenamtlich' means doing work voluntarily and without pay, for example in sports clubs, the volunteer fire brigade or charities. Millions of people in Germany do this. Paid work in a hospital or as a soldier is not ehrenamtlich.
